The fab Ruby is hosting a guided foraging walk and journaling and sketching session for trans folk, who can also bring their pals if they would like.
It’ll be centered on queer ecologies, and bringing in discussion of experiences as trans and non-binary folk in nature, and how we can build community and care and imagine inspiring futures through nature connection. You’ll learn about wild food, medicine and crafts, and practice nature connection as an act of resistance and community care!
Whilst you forage, you’ll discuss some ideas grounded in Queering Ecologies - exploring the queerness of nature all around us, and inviting reflections on our own experiences.
There'll be opportunities to journal and sketch if you'd like, and chances to discuss how we can build community, and care for ourselves as part of nature, and imagine inspiring futures through seeing endless ways of being entangled all around us.
There will be mainly be using paved and even paths, with some venturing into soft and leafy ground, depending on the requirements of the group. The pace will be slow with plenty of time for rests and discussions. You're also welcome to wander in and out of the workshop as you need and want to. There are toilets, benches and a takeaway cafe on site.
Bring weather suitable clothing, a sketchbook or notebook and a pen or pencil and something to collect your foraged finds, like a plastic tub. You may also want to bring snacks, water or tea and something to sit on if it’s soggy.
All ages are welcome. This is free, but any donations go towards supporting Trans Pride Bristol. Get your ticket on Headfirst.
Location
Ruby will email the exact meeting point to those with tickets, but the session will take place around Oldbury Court and Snuff Mills. Get the 17, 48, 48x, 49 or 49x to Cross Hands to get close to the meeting point. The nearest train station, Stapleton Road, is nearly an hour’s walk away, so we recommend using a car or bus to get to this event.
